We're proud to introduce the SHR Diode, everything you asked for in a hair removal laser.
Laser hair removal is the #1 non-invasive aesthetics treatment available today with an estimated growth rate of 18%. With nearly 3.1 million laser hair removal treatments performed in 2006. While there are many methods to eliminate unwanted hair, very few can eliminate hair regrowth while leaving the surrounding skin undamaged and photoepilation is quickly becoming the most popular. Lasers and light sources use the principle of selective photothermolysis to eliminate hair and its potential regrowth without damaging the surrounding skin.

The SHR handpiece, a large rectangular window emitting broad-spectrum light is applied to the surface of the skin. The energy travels harmlessly through the epidermis and dermis until it strikes the hair follicle, which contains a dense, melanin-rich hair shaft and bulb.
The dark-colored melanin absorbs the light and rises slowly in temperature, destroying the hair-producing cells surrounding the follicle. Because the heat is not sustained, however, no damage occurs outside the follicle area.
SHR uses 810-nm diode laser technology, the gold standard in laser hair removal since its introduction in 1998. Unlike earlier systems, however, SHR energy penetrates deep into the dermis (where the hair follicle is located) with high average power and a rapid 10 pulse-per-second repetition rate.
In motion Technology - virtually painless laser hair removal without the use of anesthesia or numbing gels

Excess hair growth occurs in areas where women usually grow fine hair or no hair at all. On chin, chest and above lip line etc.
There can be many reasons behind excess hair growth among which commonly seen is PCOS (polycystic ovary disease), Use of certain medicines, including testosterone and g l u c o c o r t i c o i d s and some congenital abnormalities. Cushing disease is also a common cause.
One form of hirsutism is also known as idiopathic hirsutism . There occur a gradual increase in coarse body hair growth and this is often related with PCOS. For complete diagnosis of the underlying disease, certain blood tests should be performed for accurate diagnosis. Level of testosterone, Follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), and prolactin should be measured in the blood.
Excessive hair growth in women may be caused by an increase in the amount of circulating male hormones called a n d r o g e n s in the body such as testosterone which promote an abnormal and excessive growth of hair. This can occur as a result of a variety of certain systemic conditions.
It may also be caused by increased sensitivity of hair follicles to the effect of the a n d r o g e n s.
Hirsutism induces psychological stress on the individual in relation to her outward appearance. This can cause a reduction in self-esteem and should be treated as fast as possible.
Depending on the treatment option, the condition can be treated permanently. This may be done by complete removal of hair follicles.
While women are more likely to seek treatment for excessive body hair than men, the treatment procedures are not only for women but men can also benefit from them.
After repeated treatments, hair will cease to grow on the treated areas, especially if the hair follicles have been removed. There may be a minimal chance of blister formation directly after the procedure. Follow up sessions should be done every 3-4 months that will make the results more permanent.
Timing between laser hair removal treatments is very important for best results. Different areas of the body have different hair growth cycles. In order to catch the most hair in the active cycle, treatments should be scheduled according to the hair growth cycles. Face and neck treatments should be scheduled every 4-6 weeks, trunk areas including bikini, chest, back, underarms, stomach etc. should be scheduled ever 6-9 weeks, and legs 7-10 weeks apart.
Typically 6 to 8 sessions are required to catch each cycle of hair growth, although some people may be satisfied with their results sooner. Following these guidelines should result in the greatest reduction of hair.
Extreme exposure to the sun
History of allergic reactions
Existence of unusual scarring on the skin
Common side effects of the procedure include irritation of the skin, tingling or burning feeling, itchiness and others. The area of the skin that has undergone treatment may also be reddened or pink.
Laser treatment provides with the permanent hair reduction on the given site. Regrowth is usually delayed. But in case of excessive hair growth due to hormonal disturbance as in case of Cushing disease etc. the hair reduction usually requires some additional treatment sessions with the addition of a medical therapy.
Fees for a laser treatment depends on the amount of time needed and number of treatments required after getting examined by a doctor. Certain treatment programs are available that can fit any budget. Results also vary, therefore it is better to get checked by a dermatologist who can suggest the treatment program for better results.
